Council Decision (CFSP) 2024/1019 regarding sanction measures in view of the situation in Iran was published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU. The decision modifies Council Decision 2011/235/CFSP which sets out a sanctions framework and targeted sanctions against firms, entities, and persons involved in or supportive of human rights abuses in the country. Specifically, the 2024 Decision extends the general application date of the 2011 decision and thus the enclosed sanction measures (asset freezes and trespassing restrictions) by one year up to April 13, 2025. Also, the Decision updates several existing records in the corresponding sanctions list set out in the Annex to the 2011 Decision and removes one entity from this list altogether.
